Fundraising Brunch Well Attended

Howard Warshauer, Chair of Clearwater Community Gardens, organized a beautiful and successful fundraising brunch which was enjoyed by 98 people on Sunday, August 17, at the Ft. Harrison Hotel. In addition to a delicious menu, attendees were treated to special guest speaker, Larry Jaffe, recalling fun and fond memories of 'Mr. Green Jeans.' Other featured speakers included Clearwater Garden Club President Alice Jarvis, Dunedin Community Garden Vice Chair Debby Sheldon, and Mr. Warshauer.

The venue and menu was generously donated, allowing Clearwater Garden Club and Clearwater Community Gardens to keep all proceeds from the event, including the revenue from many auction items donated by various members and organizations from the community including Ruth Eckerd Hall and Nature's Food Patch, and over $2000 was raised for the East Gateway location.

Plot layout and bed construction is scheduled to begin mid-September, and already over 25 plots have been reserved by local citizens. The East Gateway location was chosen and approved in December as a good location for community building in that distressed neighborhood.
